Crime - Actions Against the Police

Sometimes people may find themselves falsely arrested or imprisoned by the Police or by the Courts.  If you believe that the Police have held you in custody unlawfully then you should take advice on what steps you can take to redress the situation.

There may be occasions when you believe that the Police have been too aggressive in the manner in which you have been arrested and this has left you with injury.  If this is the case, you should take advice on whether or not there is any action against the Police to address the injury you have suffered.

There are strict time limits within which you can bring any potential action for false arrest or imprisonment and therefore it is essential that you obtain advice at the earliest possible time

Hewitts can advise you on the unlawfulness or otherwise of your arrest and detention.  We can also advise you on the procedure in bringing an action against the Police if it is determined that you have been arrested or held incorrectly.
